Wheel-Checks indicate loose wheel nuts and seized bearings easily visible in simple walk-around checks. Wheel-Checks are placed on wheel nuts in a uniform pattern when the wheel nuts are properly torqued to specs. The Wheel-Checks become out of sequence when a wheel nut has loosened. Wheel-Checks are also heat sensitive, so if there is a binding brake or seized bearing, the heat is transferred through the stud and nut and it blisters and becomes distorted.

Wheel-Checks Give Visual Indicators to Problems with Wheel Nuts

When the wheel nuts are properly torqued to specs, the Wheel-Checks are then placed on the wheel nuts in a uniform pattern.Once a wheel nut has loosened, the Wheel-Checks will become out of sequence. It will be visible when the driver does a walk-around check.
